", "\nABSTRACT\nThe present study assessed the impact of the younger generation on environmental quality in Sub‐Saharan Africa (SSA) and the mechanisms by which urbanisation and household consumption expenditure have mediated this effect. It examined these objectives using data gathered from 46 SSA economies from 2000 to 2022 using the System Generalized Method of Moments (GMM) methodology. In the present study, the young dependency ratio described the ratio of children under 15 to the working‐age population (aged 15–64), while people's ecological footprints measured environmental quality. According to the analysis results, an increase in the ratio of the younger population contributed significantly, but only slightly, to preserving environmental quality. In addition, urbanisation strengthened the impact of the younger population on environmental quality, whereas household consumption expenditure weakened it. The findings suggested that being recognised as the youngest region worldwide is a blessing that will help SSA achieve the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).\n"]
